A low-boy combo stand: short, wide-footed and built to carry weight close to the ground. It holds 35kg anywhere between 90cm and 2.05m, which is a lot of fixture for a stand this size. "Combo" means the stand top takes both standard studio fittings, so it suits a heavy head as readily as a small one.
The universal stand top does three jobs at once: a 28mm (1-1/8") junior receiver, a 16mm (5/8") baby receiver, and a multi-directional 16mm baby stud. Whatever fitting the fixture arrives with, the top will take it without an adaptor.
One leg levels independently of the other two, so the stand stands square on a slope, on stairs or on rough ground. Double leg struts brace it, and the feet are padded to protect both the legs and the floor.
The details that decide how long a stand lasts: a solid cast aluminium knob on a stainless bolt, a stainless steel heli-coil insert in the die-cast riser so the threaded hole cannot strip, a hanger cast into the upper spider for rack storage, an eye ring for a wind-bracing kit, and an oversized brake shoe for a firm lock-off.
