Leofoto G4 Geared Tripod Head

The Leofoto G4 Geared Tripod Head is a precision camera support designed for photographers who need accurate, controlled adjustments to composition. Combining rapid manual positioning with fine geared movement, it is particularly well suited to landscape, architectural, macro, product and studio photography.

Unlike a conventional ball head, the G4 provides independent geared adjustment of the X and Y tilt axes, allowing very small corrections to camera position without having to unlock and reposition the entire head. For larger movements, the clutch levers disengage the gearing for quick coarse adjustment; release them and the geared controls can then be used for precise final positioning.

The X and Y axes are designed around a closely aligned pivot point, helping minimise unwanted shifts in composition while making fine adjustments.

For horizontal positioning, the G4 features a separate 360° panoramic base with graduated markings. This allows precise rotation for panoramic photography and controlled horizontal alignment, while integrated spirit levels assist with accurate setup.

An Arca-Swiss compatible clamp accepts the included Leofoto NP-60 quick-release plate and is compatible with a wide range of Arca-type camera plates and L-brackets.

At just 690g, the G4 offers a useful balance between precision, portability and rigidity. Leofoto specifies a maximum load of 20kg, although this should be regarded as a manufacturer-rated maximum rather than an indication of optimum working payload. Practical capacity and stability depend on camera and lens weight, load balance, lens length and the degree of tilt.
