Cloudy season is in full swing in Johannesburg and our next workshop is going to offer us fantastic views of the iconic Johannesburg skyline at sunset.

Our shooting location is well known to photographers, but it's also known as a no-go zone if you are on your own, or if you don't have adequate security - muggings and robberies have been known to happen at this spot. To this end, we have organised a team of fully armed, professional security services to join us at this mini-workshop, so you can shoot some fantastic photos without having to look over your shoulder. This location is the perfect spot to try out the Nisi polarising and ND filters, which we will have on hand for you to experiment with. The big sky view will be perfect for long exposure shooting of clouds - and who knows, maybe there may even be lightning or a storm.

All attendees will be added to a private WhatsApp group where exact location, meeting time, driving arrangements and general rules of the shoot will be shared. For obvious security reasons, please DO NOT share this information publicly.

All participants will be required to sign a standard indemnity form to partake in this workshop. This form has to be completed, scanned and returned to us BEFORE the workshop. Any booked participants who refuse to sign the indemnity will be refunded the workshop fee minus a 10% admin and transaction fee.

The client who makes an online booking and subsequent payment for this workshop, does so on behalf of himself and persons under his authority, which means that all are bound by the terms and conditions of the workshop as if they had made the application themselves

Mini workshop payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you miss the workshop for any reason, your payment will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Mini Workshops

Our goal is to help motivate the members of our community to improve their photographic skills and keep them honed by getting out and shooting more.

The problem is that normal full-day or multi-day workshops require a mountain of organisational effort from us and a large fee and time commitment from you. We want to offer the community a way of getting out on a regular basis, without you or us having to commit too much.

In partnership with expert local photographers, we will offer brief workshops around various SA cities at a nominal fee. By foregoing formal presentations, venues and catering, the commitment for all parties is vastly reduced. It is essentially just a shooting session of 2-3 hours under expert supervision. You will benefit from safety in numbers, the shared motivation of a group of people going to shoot and the expert knowledge of the mentor guiding the workshop. The best way to learn is if someone can answer your questions in the field as you encounter them.

How it Works

The city, mentor and type of workshops (seascape, landscape, cityscape, macro) is listed under products – workshops as a product. We will not list the exact location of the workshops on the website for safety reasons.

We will give an indication of the greater area where the workshop will happen. Once booked, you will be added to a whatsapp group for the workshop and you will be given an exact time, date and location.

At the workshop, you will have the opportunity to shoot under the guidance of an expert photographer who can assist you and answer all your questions. You will benefit from their knowledge of photography and the location as well as safety in numbers of a group.

Pricing of Workshops

We want to keep these workshops as affordable as possible, while keeping group sizes small and making sure that the mentor is fairly rewarded for their time and effort.

Pricing will vary from R300 to R1000 per workshop depending on the day of the week, the mentor and whether any location fees apply.

Get Your Workshop Fee Back

  • If you purchase any products within 10 days of attending a workshop, you can get your full workshop fee back as a discount*

Try New Products

If there are any products that you’ve been eyeing, the mentor can bring it along on the workshop and you can try it out under their supervision.

Your support of this initiative is absolutely crucial to its success. As long as the workshops are fully booked, the mentors will keep arranging them. Please share it with your friends and motivate them to join in the fun.
