NiSi’s Linear Polarizer uses the same high-quality optical glass as the rest of the NiSi line. This, coupled with Nitto Polarizer film, creates a filter with a 99.9% polarization rating. Each filter is precision ground and polished after the film is applied to ensure maximum sharpness.  The edges of the filter are resin-sealed to keep moisture from entering the filter, improving durability.

Polarizers reduce the reflection on non-metallic surfaces to reveal the original color and texture of an object. Polarizers can also help to enhance the saturation of colors beyond that of normal vision. They are the most effective filter to improve the tone of the sky and are not easily imitated by post-production.

The NiSi Linear Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out the light on non-metallic surfaces. This light is often seen as a haze in landscape scenes. The linear polarizer passes light through the filter evenly which reduces this haze-like effect and a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, in-camera autofocus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. This filter is recommended when not using in-camera exposure metering or autofocus.

The Nisi 4×5.65” Range is compatible with all leading brands of matte boxes that fit the 4×5.65” standard. The cinema filters also conform with the 4mm thickness allowing them to fit into filter cages or slot into cageless designs. A leatherette pouch is included for storage and transport. Also available is a larger filter case to organise and keep multiple filters at once.

We have a no-nonsense approach. If a product breaks due to a manufacturer defect, we will replace it without asking any questions. If we have any reason to believe that the product was put through unreasonably heavy usage, we will have to follow the manufacturer's standard warranty procedure.

NiSi Care & Use

F-stop Care & Use

Leofoto

The manufacturer offers a 10-year limited warranty on all products and we extend that warranty to our customers. Please read the below very carefully, so you understand your position when something breaks or doesn’t work ideally anymore.

It is critical to understand that this warranty only applies to factory faults and not to standard wear and tear. Tripods are subject to a lot of gray areas in this regard as tripods used outdoors, particularly in sand and sea water, are subjected to extreme wear and tear. We will e.g. replace the affected part of your tripod if a carbon tube snaps or cracks without much pressure applied to it or if the apex breaks. We will not replace your tripod or the affected part if e.g. a joint locks up due to sand or salt build up or if a hinge becomes corroded or stiff/floppy and unserviceable due to corrosion or salt build up.

In sum, if we see that you took good care of your tripod and something went wrong, we will go out of our way to fix or replace it for you. If we see that you dragged it through the mud (literally or metaphorically), then we are unlikely to fix/replace it for you. How you handle your tripod and take care of it, is all the difference between 3- or 20 years of service.

The best of tripods will not last longer than 2/3 years if used regularly in the sea, INCORRECTLY, and never serviced. Always make sure to extend the lowest leg section first, so you keep the joints out of the water/sand. Always rinse with freshwater after use in the sea, wipe down with a wet cloth, leave extended to dry and ENSURE YOU KEEP THE HEAD AND APEX DRY. If your tripod’s joints start feeling sandy/gritty, open them up, give them a proper clean and lubrication and fine-tune the tension on the joints.

If travelling on dirt roads, ensure that your tripod is in its carry-bag when not in use.

Your tripod will not take care of itself – it is up to you to do so. All our tripods ship with an info-sheet on taking care of your tripod. We also offer a full tripod disassembly and service for R1000, including shipping both ways.

CHOOSING NISI

NiSi Cinema Filters

NiSi’s new range of cinema filters are quickly being accepted by the film industry as a reliable and colour-accurate brand at a more affordable price point.

Their IRND’s, Rotating Polarisers and Mist Filters have been in use on sets across the globe for multiple years now with nothing but positive feedback. Our experience here in SA has been the same, with plenty of sales to production and gear houses and only great feedback.

Availability & delivery times

Demand for cinema filters is extremely sporadic. We typically carry two full sets of IRND’s, two full sets of Black Mist, multiple rotating CPLs and one full set of grads. Unlike the stills filters which sell at a steady pace and makes it easy to manage stock, it is common for our entire shelf of cinema filters to be purchased unexpectedly for a large production or a gear house replenishing their fleet.

For this reason, we often end up with no stock when we are between NiSi orders, which we place roughly every 2 months. If we are out of stock and you need something urgently, please get in touch with us as we offer priority airfreight from China for orders over R25 000.

We offer same day shipping from our office in Stellenbosch to JHB for orders over R25 000. We offer same day delivery to film locations within a 100km radius of Stellenbosch for orders over R25 000.
