The manufacturer offers a 10-year limited warranty on all products and we extend that warranty to our customers. Please read the below very carefully, so you understand your position when something breaks or doesn’t work ideally anymore.

It is critical to understand that this warranty only applies to factory faults and not to standard wear and tear. Tripods are subject to a lot of gray areas in this regard as tripods used outdoors, particularly in sand and sea water, are subjected to extreme wear and tear. We will e.g. replace the affected part of your tripod if a carbon tube snaps or cracks without much pressure applied to it or if the apex breaks. We will not replace your tripod or the affected part if e.g. a joint locks up due to sand or salt build up or if a hinge becomes corroded or stiff/floppy and unserviceable due to corrosion or salt build up.

In sum, if we see that you took good care of your tripod and something went wrong, we will go out of our way to fix or replace it for you. If we see that you dragged it through the mud (literally or metaphorically), then we are unlikely to fix/replace it for you. How you handle your tripod and take care of it, is all the difference between 3- or 20 years of service.

The best of tripods will not last longer than 2/3 years if used regularly in the sea, INCORRECTLY, and never serviced. Always make sure to extend the lowest leg section first, so you keep the joints out of the water/sand. Always rinse with freshwater after use in the sea, wipe down with a wet cloth, leave extended to dry and ENSURE YOU KEEP THE HEAD AND APEX DRY. If your tripod’s joints start feeling sandy/gritty, open them up, give them a proper clean and lubrication and fine-tune the tension on the joints.

If travelling on dirt roads, ensure that your tripod is in its carry-bag when not in use.

Your tripod will not take care of itself – it is up to you to do so. All our tripods ship with an info-sheet on taking care of your tripod. We also offer a full tripod disassembly and service for R1000, including shipping both ways.

Cityscape, Architecture & Stock Photography

Join us for an educational day on the art and business of urban landscape photography. The event will feature an in-depth presentation on capturing architecture and cityscapes by prominent Cape Town photographer Bipin Prag. He will delve into all the details particular to this genre, like the use of tilt-shift lenses, ND and light pollution filters, multi-row panos and the twilight equilibrium.

Hougaard Malan will be doing a presentation on cityscapes and stock photography, focusing on subjects like what sells, how to shoot, technical quality and which are the best libraries to work with.

The presentations will be finished one hour before sunset, allowing participants to capture Cape Town from the venue’s balconies. Hougaard and Bipin will be on hand to help out and explain all concepts and techniques shared during the presentation. Sunset is at 19h26 and we have to be out of the venue by 21h00, allowing enough time to capture, sunset, twilight and blue hour.

We will have the core of the NiSi product range on display and available to try. Including their global best-selling natural night filter.

Carefully Selected Date

The light over the city is most dramatic during high summer when the sun is as far to the south as possible.

High Summer

Although summer is not the most cloudy season in the cape, we decided that a cloudless sunset is better than a grey and rainy one. If lady luck is with us, we might just hit one of Cape Town's beautiful summer sunsets or the mist after a heatwave.

Although cityscape and architecture photography shares many traits with the landscape genre, it also has many very unique tricks of the trade. The presentations of the day will teach you all the most important aspects of capturing urban landscapes and how to capitalise on those images via the stock world.

Bipin Prag

Bipin is a prominent amateur photographer with a great passion for cityscape and architecture photography. His day-job gets him access to rooftops where most people can't go and that has helped him to build up an impressive portfolio of cityscapes over the years.

Hougaard Malan

Hougaard is a longstanding contributor to countless stock libraries like Gallo, Getty and other boutique RM libraries. He will explain the key information on choosing the right library, what to shoot, how to shoot it and how to get a better acceptance rate.
