NiSi Filters 150mm S6 NiSi S6 Filter Holder Kit with CPL
The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Kit with Pro CPL for Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM is the first of the new NiSi S6 range designed for wide-angle lenses without a standard filter thread. The S6 range was not intended for release this early in 2020, but due to Sony releasing such an awesome lens with the 12-24mm f/2.8 GM, we had to release it early!
Designed for landscape photographers who wish to combine an ultra-wide-angle lens with a filter system supporting multiple filters. The S6 allows the use of an integrated PRO CPL and two 150mm wide filters (2mm thick) with 360 degrees of rotation for the CPL. The S6 for Sony 12-24mm f/2.8 GM has no vignetting at 12mm when the holder is in the normal straight position, with a small amount of vignetting when the holder is on a special 45-degree angle.
The S6 features a new locking system to lock the main filter holder in position. The integrated wheel can be easily rotated to lock the holder in place with a locking system that feels natural and easy to use.
Due to the wide focal length and the large amount of light coming in from the bulb head, ghosting and flare can occur when using a filters system. To solve this problem, the S6 main adaptor uses the same matting treatment as the high-end lens hood.
A geared design allows the integrated CPL to be rotated while using 150mm filters using two gear located on the rear of the holder, a design feature taken from our leading 100mm holders. The holder allows very quick installation and removal without removing the lens from the camera. The front of the holder with clips holding the 150mm filters can be rapidly removed to allow focus and easy replacement or removal of the filters.
The S6 has an updated design based on feedback from our users over the S5 including:
- The design of the front filter holder has been refined to make it easier to insert and remove ND filters.
- A new integrated locking system to lock the front filter holder.
- New matting treatment on the inside of the adaptor to reduce reflection, ghosting, and flare.
- The rear locking ring is oxidized silver for an improved look.
- The S6 features a new compact case to store and protect the S6 kit.
- Includes a Lens Cap to protect the CPL.
The kit includes the S6 holder, S6 adaptor mount for the Sony 12-24mm, a NiSi Pro C-PL, lens cap, and a case to store the holder.

We have a no-nonsense approach. If a product breaks due to a manufacturer defect, we will replace it without asking any questions. If we have any reason to believe that the product was put through unreasonably heavy usage, we will have to follow the manufacturer's standard warranty procedure.
Leofoto
The manufacturer offers a 10-year limited warranty on all products and we extend that warranty to our customers. Please read the below very carefully, so you understand your position when something breaks or doesn’t work ideally anymore.
It is critical to understand that this warranty only applies to factory faults and not to standard wear and tear. Tripods are subject to a lot of gray areas in this regard as tripods used outdoors, particularly in sand and sea water, are subjected to extreme wear and tear. We will e.g. replace the affected part of your tripod if a carbon tube snaps or cracks without much pressure applied to it or if the apex breaks. We will not replace your tripod or the affected part if e.g. a joint locks up due to sand or salt build up or if a hinge becomes corroded or stiff/floppy and unserviceable due to corrosion or salt build up.
In sum, if we see that you took good care of your tripod and something went wrong, we will go out of our way to fix or replace it for you. If we see that you dragged it through the mud (literally or metaphorically), then we are unlikely to fix/replace it for you. How you handle your tripod and take care of it, is all the difference between 3- or 20 years of service.
The best of tripods will not last longer than 2/3 years if used regularly in the sea, INCORRECTLY, and never serviced. Always make sure to extend the lowest leg section first, so you keep the joints out of the water/sand. Always rinse with freshwater after use in the sea, wipe down with a wet cloth, leave extended to dry and ENSURE YOU KEEP THE HEAD AND APEX DRY. If your tripod’s joints start feeling sandy/gritty, open them up, give them a proper clean and lubrication and fine-tune the tension on the joints.
If travelling on dirt roads, ensure that your tripod is in its carry-bag when not in use.
Your tripod will not take care of itself – it is up to you to do so. All our tripods ship with an info-sheet on taking care of your tripod. We also offer a full tripod disassembly and service for R1000, including shipping both ways.

NiSi Filters 150mm S5 Filter Holder Kit with Landscape NC CPL
Welcome to the next generation of filter holders – The NISI S5 system.
Until now, using filters on ultra-wide lenses has suffered from a severe limitation – the inability to rotate a circular polarizer independently of the graduated filters. While all the other manufacturers complained about the challenges of designing a holder to solve this problem, NISI Filters actually did it.
The NISI S5 filter holder is the world’s first 150mm holder that allows a circular polarizer to be rotated independently of the graduated ND filters. This offers creative freedom to optimally utilise virtually any combination of filters you desire on your favourite ultra-wide lens like the Nikon 14-24mm, Sony 12-24mm and Tamron 15-30mm.
The NISI S5 system consists of 3 elements –
- Single Lens-specific Adapter ring that clamps directly onto the lens
- Landscape Circular Polariser with a large thread for easy mounting
- 150mm Filter Holder with two slots (interchangeable on different S5 adapters)
Need to adapt your S5 holder to other thread sizes? There are 77mm/82mm adapters for most of the S5 holders as well as a special 105mm/95mm/86mm version of the S5. Please see the 150mm product category or feel free to get in touch on the contact page if you have any questions.
It also includes a dedicated storage pouch for all three components.
One of the major advantages of the filter holder and adapter ring being split is that dark ND filters can be instantly removed on the holder in order to focus and compose.
As with the 100mm V5 Pro system, the Adapter ring features two gears that allow rotation of the circular polarizer while any square filters are mounted.

NiSi Filters 150mm System Advance Kit
The NiSi Filters 150mm System Advance Kit Second Generation II is a comprehensive kit for landscape or seascape photographers. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to create long exposure images and use ND filters & GND filters and can be combined with any NiSi 150mm holders. NiSi 150x170mm Nano IR Medium Graduated Neutral Density Filter – ND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop
The 150x170mm Nano IR Medium Graduated Neutral Density Filter – ND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop is a rectangular filter that helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a medium-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a medium-edged line of transition is particularly useful for images that feature buildings, small mountains and other elements that protrude into high into the skyline. The transition zone of a medium is 40% smaller than a Soft GND and is wonderful for shooting at sunrise and sunset.
Nisi 150x170mm Reverse Nano IR Graduated Neutral Density Filter – ND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop
The 100x150mm Reverse Nano IR Graduated Neutral Density filter – ND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop is a rectangular filter that helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. Reverse edged GNDs are similar to hard-edged GNDs except that the darkest part of the filter is at the transition point. These filters have a specific use for shooting at the light source where the light is harshest at the horizon and tapers off toward the sky. This type of filter is most appropriate for scenes that have a sudden transition from the foreground to the sky with the brightest part of the scene near the horizon. Most commonly, this would include landscapes with no elements protruding above the horizon such as a seascape looking toward the open ocean. They can be used shooting into the direct light where a sharp transition is needed.
NiSi 150x150mm Nano IR Neutral Density filter – ND64 (1.8) – 6 Stop
The NiSi 150x150mm Nano IR Neutral Density Filter – ND64 (1.8) – 6 Stop is a Neutral Density (ND) filter that uniformly reduces the amount of light entering the lens. ND Filters can enable greater motion blurring and image detail by allowing a large aperture and a slow shutter speed. ND filters are also helpful when the contrast between the highlights and shadows is too high to get a quality exposure. The ND64 6 stops ND filter is generally used during the golden hour to create exposures of 1-2 minutes for smooth water or clouds. A 6 Stop is also great for capturing dynamic water while retaining some texture before the golden hour.
NiSi 150x150mm Nano IR Neutral Density filter – ND1000 (3.0) – 10 Stop
The NiSi 150x150mm Nano IR Neutral Density Filter – ND1000 (3.0) – 10 Stop is a Neutral Density (ND) filter that uniformly reduces the amount of light entering the lens. ND Filters can enable greater motion blurring and image detail by allowing a large aperture and a slow shutter speed. ND filters are also helpful when the contrast between the highlights and shadows is too high to get a quality exposure. The ND1000 10 Stop is used during the day outside of golden hour as the bright ambient light requires much more ‘light blocking’. These can prolong exposures for up to 5 minutes during golden hour with the appropriate settings.
NiSi Caddy 150mm Filter Pouch Pro
The NiSi Caddy 150mm Filter Pouch Pro for 7 Filters and S5 Filter Holder (Holds 7 x 150x150mm or 150x170mm filters + 150mm Holder) is designed for the NiSi 150mm system filters and will hold 7 x 150x150mm, 150x170mm or S5 Circular Filters plus a 150mm Filter Holder. It features an adjustable cross-body sling strap and can be carried as a shoulder bag, messenger bag or a waist bag. It can be mounted on a tripod for easy access with an included smaller strap for mounting and is designed from a lightweight material that protects your filters from scratches. The pouch can hold up to 7 filters plus a holder and features a flip-top design to keep the pouch open when in use.
NiSi ND filters do not affect the colouration of the image, offer a true to life colour and are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin) with nano coating to prevent losing any single bit of detail. By using neutral density filter the camera is vulnerable to infrared light which will cast the unwanted red colour to the photos when shooting at a small aperture. NiSi ND filters have an infrared protection coating layer to eliminate the infrared light through the lens to bring back the natural true to life colour.
The NiSi Filters 150mm System Starter Kit also represents a great saving than buying all the included items separately.

NiSi 150x150mm Natural Night Filter (Light Pollution Filter)
The NiSi 150x150mm Natural Night Filter is a new addition to the NiSi range and our first filter exclusive for night photography. Between mercury vapour, sodium, Low CRI streetlights, there are many undesirable wavelengths of light that pollute the night sky. The glow from these can keep your camera from seeing the sky properly and affect your night images. Because of this, NiSi has created the Natural Night Filter to block the most common wavelengths of light pollution. Like the rest of the NiSi line, this filter is made of high quality, precision annealed, optical glass. Its surface is finely ground and polished to ensure sharpness for today’s ultra-high megapixel cameras.

NiSi Filters 150mm Soft Graduated Nano IR ND Filter
NiSi is the only company that offers their standard graduated neutral density filters in glass instead of resin. Made from H-K9L optical proglass, these filters transmit light much better than resin, producing true-to-life colour and optimal contrast and sharpness.
Landscape photographers use graduated neutral density filters because the sky is usually brighter than the land – especially in dramatic sunset light. Graduated ND filters are dark on the top half and transparent on the bottom half. When the dark part is positioned over the sky of an image, it ‘reduces’ the amount of light allowed through that part of the frame and this results in a darkened exposure of the sky.
Graduated ND filters are available in soft, medium and hard and this determines the distance of the transition between the dark part and the transparent part. The softer the graduation, the more even the transition between the darkened area and the normal area. There are also reverse and horizon grads, which are a slight alteration. Read below to find out more or browse the product images to see classic examples of ideal situations for each grad type.
- Soft Grad –These filters are typically for scenes with a very dynamic horizon, like landscapes with trees or high mountains. Soft grads are the most forgiving and easiest for beginners to use.
- Hard Grad - These filters are typically for scenes with a straight and uniform horizon, like the sea. If a hard grad is not positioned perfectly, it will be clearly noticeable in the image as a dark line below the horizon or a bright line above it. We advise that beginners stick to soft and medium grads.
- Medium Grad – Medium grads are a newer product that most manufacturers only released in 2016/2017. Many photographers often found hard grads too hard and soft grads too soft and thus it was obvious that something in between was necessary. It is also the perfect solution for photographers that don’t want to commit to a hard or soft grad. Not everyone can afford to buy the full range of these filters and the medium grads are an excellent new compromise.
- Reverse Grad – These filters serve a very niche, but useful purpose. When shooting into a bright sunset/sunrise, the brightest area is right on the horizon and then the sky darkens towards the top. When using a normal graduated ND, it will result in a correctly exposed horizon, but the top part of the sky will be far too dark. A Reverse Grad also has a clear lower half, but it is darkest in the middle and then gets lighter towards the top. This allows one to more accurately balance those exposures that are brightest on the horizon.
All the different types of grads are available in different densities, because light is dynamic and different scenes require a different amount of ‘darkening’ of the sky. We stock a variety of 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2 (0.3 = 1 stop) in NiSi's various size ranges. The most popular densities are 0.6 and 0.9, but a 1.2 is becoming increasingly popular.
If you’re unsure about which density is right for you, read below or check out product image #2.
- 0.3 (1-stop) is for experienced shooters, usually to be combined with a 0.6 or 0.9.
- 0.6 (2-stop) is the most popular filter as a 2-stop difference between land and sky is most common. If you shoot a sunset/sunrise the 0.6 will be the all-rounder that best balances exposure between land and sky in most directions.
- 0.9 (3-stop) is the ideal if you like shooting into the sunset as the 0.6 isn’t always dark enough for into-the-sun shots. The issue with the 0.9 is that it will be too dark if shooting 90-degrees from the sun or with the sun at your back.
- 1.2 (4-stop) is for shooting directly into a very bright sunset/sunrise.

NiSi Filters 150mm Medium Graduated Nano IR ND Filter

NiSi Filters 150mm Nano IRND 1.8 | 6-Stop | ND64
NiSi is renowned as one of the world's top manufacturers of completely colour-neutral and vignette-free ND filters. Made from H-K9L optical proglass, it allows optimal light transmission to produce sharp and contrast rich images with true-to-life colour.
Solid neutral density filters lengthen exposure by cutting out a specific amount of light. This is very useful for creative purposes, whether you want to blur a wave, waterfall, leopard or a street scene. They are available in many different densities, ranging from 2 to 20 stops, but the most popular are 3-, 6- and 10-stops. Please read the bullet points below to understand the purpose of each.
- 3-Stop | 0.9 - This filter is used to add a slight blur to water before the sun has set or after it has risen. At f/16 and ISO100, it is impossible to achieve a slow enough shutterspeed to get the ideal amount of blur in the waves while the sun is up. Three stops of darkening will normally allow a shutterspeed of 1/10s to 1/2s during this golden sunlight phase, producing soft lines in the waves.
- 6-Stop | 1.8 - This filter serves the same purpose as the 10-stop, but it is better suited for sunset and sunrise. When the sun is close to setting or rising, a 10-stop ND will require a very long shutterspeed at f/11-16 and ISO100 to produce the correct exposure - often as much as 5-10 minutes. A 6-stop ND is thus much more suited for capturing long exposures of 30-60s around sunset and sunrise.
- 10-Stop | 3.0 - This filter is used primarily for blurring the sea to a flat mist and for blurring clouds into abstract lines. It can also be used to remove traffic and people from urban scenes by blurring the moving elements. At f/11-16 and ISO100, it usually produces a shutterspeed of 20-30s in early morning or late afternoon with strong sunlight.
- 15-Stop | 4.5 - This filter is serious long exposure territory and will produce exposures times of 1-4 minutes in peak daylight and 5-30 minutes during golden hour.
IR Blocking - This filter blocks out unwanted Infra-red light that can cause strange colours in undesired areas and rob images of critical shadow-contrast.
Nano Coating - This filter features a super tough scratch-resistant and hydrophobic nano coating that ensures that it lasts for years. It also ensures that any rain or spray from the ocean beads properly and is easy to wipe off so you can continue shooting the sunset.

NiSi Filters 150mm Nano IRND 3.0 | 10-Stop | ND1000

NiSi Filters 150mm Natural Night
The NiSi natural night filter removes unwanted light pollution in night photos by cutting out very specific wavelengths of light produced by artificial light sources. It removes all yellow light produced by sodium-vapor lamps, mercury-vapor lamps and low-CRI LED's. This ensures that night-time images are colour-accurate, sharp and rich in contrast.
This unique new filter is an indespensible tool for any serious cityscape shooter.
Please note that the Natural Night filter is not compatible with the Lee holders - it slides out as there is not enough friction between the filter and the holder. You can solve the problem by applying some insulation tape to the edge of the filter, should you want to use it with your Lee holder.

Want to know more about the difference between NiSi's optical and Explorer filters? Emil von Maltitz does a side by side comparison here.

NiSi Filters 150mm Explorer Nano IRND 1.8 | 6-Stop | ND64
The NiSi Explorer Collection is made for adventure. The filters feature a special glass hardening process that makes them double the strength of typical glass filter. The Explorer series are much less prone to accidental breakage and perfect for active photographers. The NiSi Explorer Collection is made from B270 tempered glass and features the same Nano coating process as NiSi's optical glass filters.
The following filters are available in the Explorer Range:
- Nano IRND 0.9 | 3-Stop | ND8
- Nano IRND 1.8 | 6-Stop | ND64
- Nano IRND 3.0 | 10-Stop | ND1000
- Soft Graduated Nano IR ND Filter 0.9 | 3-Stop | ND8
- Medium Graduated Nano IR ND Filter 0.9 | 3-Stop | ND8
- Reverse Graduated Nano IR ND Filter 0.9 | 3-Stop | ND8
Want to know more about the difference between NiSi's optical and Explorer filters? Emil von Maltitz does a side by side comparison here.
At f/16 and ISO100, it is impossible to achieve a slow enough shutter speed to get the ideal amount of blur in the waves while the sun is up. Three stops of darkening will normally allow a shutter speed of 1/10s to 1/2s during this golden sunlight phase, producing soft lines in the waves.
- 6-Stop | 1.8 - This filter serves the same purpose as the 10-stop, but it is better suited for sunset and sunrise. When the sun is close to setting or rising, a 10-stop ND will require a very long shutter speed at f/11-16 and ISO100 to produce the correct exposure - often as much as 5-10 minutes.
At f/11-16 and ISO100, it usually produces a shutter speed of 20-30s in the early morning or late afternoon with strong sunlight.
IR Blocking - This filter blocks out unwanted Infra-red light that can cause strange colours in undesired areas and rob images of critical shadow-contrast.
Nano Coating - This filter features a super tough scratch-resistant and hydrophobic nano-coating that ensures that it lasts for years. It also ensures that any rain or spray from the ocean beads properly and is easy to wipe off so you can continue shooting the sunset.
