STOCK UPDATE 4 APRIL 2024 - 1x SONY E & 1 X ARRI PL IN STOCK

Laowa 24mm T14 2X probe lens revolutionised product videography. It is widely used in wildlife, table-top shoots, ads, and other creative works. The new 24mm T14 2x Macro Periprobe brings the probe lens to another level. Users can now explore more possibilities and angles.

This lens includes the standard straight barrel, which can be interchanged with the periscope barrel.

The new Periprobe inherits all the features from the old probe lens, but it differs in one critical way; It features an 85° offset from the barrel with a periscope and a very close working distance, which features a bug-eye perspective. The 2x magnification allows for capturing subjects of different sizes with outstanding detail. The long waterproof barrel can be inserted into tight spaces and underwater to obtain a unique perspective.

The LED Ring Lite provides an extra light source and the tip features a 1/4" mounting thread for additional light sources or added stability or accessories.

Users can also switch the 90° periscope back to the 0° straight scope. The lens can rotate 360° along the axis by using the clutch mechanism to unlock the orientation ring.

  • Bug-eye perspective
  • 2x magnification
  • Deep depth of field
  • Long & tubular lens barrel
  • Waterproof barrel
  • LED Ring Lite
  • 360° Rotation
  • 0° & 90° interchangeable
  • Extra threaded tip (1/4")

Laowa 24mm T14 2x Periprobe is dedicatedly designed for Full Frame sensors. It inherits all the features from Laowa 24mm f/14 2x Probe and adds a whole new periscope characteristic. The lens gives you a new perspective and improves flexibility in terms of setups and camera operation.

The 24mm T14 2x Periprobe includes (1) Main Unit, (1) 90° Module and (1) Direct View Module. Users could flexibly swap the modules based on the needs.

What shots Periprobe can do?

Users can hold up or down the camera with the Periprobe to create a periscope perspective. It is useful when you shoot something unreachable like the tree hole at 7’ tall or the crab hiding in an underwater cave. It also makes your set-ups easier since you do not need a big tank and waterproof housing for this shot.

With 2x magnification, 85° wide AoV and close working distance, users could create a special close-up face-up and face-down shot that other lenses cannot do.

Users could unrelease the orientation ring to spin the lens along the axis which could create special movements.

It is difficult for photographers to film close to the ground as there are always restrictions in set-ups, like the cameras and the lens itself are always obstacles. Some users would dig a hole in the ground for the cameras or need a more complicated pre-shoot set-up. With Periprobe, you could simply stick the lens tip to the ground.

Users could use the clutch mechanism to unlock the orientation ring for perspective adjustment and different motion movements. The 0.8 Mod gear allows users to install the focus gear for smooth perspective movements.

There is a direct view module included in the lens set. Users could switch back to the probe perspective with a few simple installation steps.

The threaded tip allows for the mounting of accessories like lighting or provides an attachment point for stabilization.

The 24mm T14 2x Periprobe has a wider perspective i.e. 85° than other macro lenses which more background infomation can be captured. The lens is able to focus really close to the subjects i.e. working distance=0.8”/2cm at 2x magnification. It makes everything bigger than life size with great details to create a stunning ‘bug-eye perspective’.

The Periprobe has a wider perspective than other telephoto macro lenses and the aperture range starts from T14 to T40; therefore, it would have a greater depth of field at close distances. It is beneficial when shooting wildlife and in a studio as more information of the background can be included.

The long and tubular lens barrel makes itself more accessible to different subjects. With the 40cm/15.7” long barrel, you could poke it into different tight spaces like tree holes, Lego houses, etc. Users could also stay at a safe distance from the subjects.

For APS-C & M43 Users

The 24mm T14 2x Periprobe is designed for full-frame cameras. However, APS-C and Micro Four Thirds users can now pair up the lens with a 0.7x focal reducer which is dedicatedly designed for the probe lens. It maintains the perspective of the lens by reducing the crop from the APS-C and M43 sensors, while it boosts the light to f/10. Click Here to acquire more information about 0.7x focal reducer. We have a no-nonsense approach. If a product breaks due to a manufacturer defect, we will replace it without asking any questions. If we have any reason to believe that the product was put through unreasonably heavy usage, we will have to follow the manufacturer's standard warranty procedure.

Find more info on proper care and use for each brand below.

NiSi Care & Use

F-stop Care & Use

Leofoto

The manufacturer offers a 10-year limited warranty on all products and we extend that warranty to our customers. Please read the below very carefully, so you understand your position when something breaks or doesn’t work ideally anymore.

It is critical to understand that this warranty only applies to factory faults and not to standard wear and tear. Tripods are subject to a lot of gray areas in this regard as tripods used outdoors, particularly in sand and sea water, are subjected to extreme wear and tear. We will e.g. replace the affected part of your tripod if a carbon tube snaps or cracks without much pressure applied to it or if the apex breaks. We will not replace your tripod or the affected part if e.g. a joint locks up due to sand or salt build up or if a hinge becomes corroded or stiff/floppy and unserviceable due to corrosion or salt build up.

In sum, if we see that you took good care of your tripod and something went wrong, we will go out of our way to fix or replace it for you. If we see that you dragged it through the mud (literally or metaphorically), then we are unlikely to fix/replace it for you. How you handle your tripod and take care of it, is all the difference between 3- or 20 years of service.

The best of tripods will not last longer than 2/3 years if used regularly in the sea, INCORRECTLY, and never serviced. Always make sure to extend the lowest leg section first, so you keep the joints out of the water/sand. Always rinse with freshwater after use in the sea, wipe down with a wet cloth, leave extended to dry and ENSURE YOU KEEP THE HEAD AND APEX DRY. If your tripod’s joints start feeling sandy/gritty, open them up, give them a proper clean and lubrication and fine-tune the tension on the joints.

If travelling on dirt roads, ensure that your tripod is in its carry-bag when not in use.

Your tripod will not take care of itself – it is up to you to do so. All our tripods ship with an info-sheet on taking care of your tripod. We also offer a full tripod disassembly and service for R1000, including shipping both ways.
